It has come to my attention that there has been an independent discovery of my blog by a good friend of mine who goes by the name Casey Neese. This officially means that there are at least 2 people who know my blog exists and who read/skim/look at it at least occasionally. I’d like to point out that this is a 100% increase in readership through no effort of my own. Perhaps after another three months or so, the readership will have doubled to 4. We’ll just have to wait and see. By the way, Casey, if you’re reading this, sorry I haven’t called you back yet. I’ll try to call you this weekend while Kim and I are in Charleston, South Carolina.
Ten years ago, there was this football game called Super Bowl XXX. Or maybe I should write Super Bowl Thirty, in case you’re imagining some other type of football game that also involved lots of butt slaps, tight ends, and “touchdowns.” I was in ninth grade at the time, that cold winter of 1995/1996. That was the last time the Steelers went to the Super Bowl. I’d like to forget about the last ten years; those years when the Steelers went to the AFC title game 4 times and choked. I’d like to forget the Kordell Stewart years. I’d like to forget a 15-1 season, then losing to the Patriots in the title game. And so finally, I can, because the Steelers are going to the freakin’ Super Bowl!
Go Steelers!

I would like to say that I am proud to be your first reader (although I can't take credit for discovering it, as you emailed me the link). And I would also like to wonder how in the world Casey randomly found your blog.
I'm so jealous that you're going to Charleston. I'm reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil right now and it makes me wish for the sunny skies and warm weather of Savannah (to which I've never been but have always wanted to go). Of course, that yearning could change once I get to the murder they talk about on the book jacket...
